A Winter to Remember . . .

Not too long ago, in a recent blog, I spoke of welcoming the new year, 2026. We’ve just entered into March, and the calendar says that in just two weeks we can enjoy the first day of spring. I am ready!

Weatherwise, our year truly started with a bang here on the east coast, with the big snow and ice storm a few weeks ago. Below-freezing temperatures kept the snow hanging around for two weeks.

And then came the blizzard!

Blizzards don’t often come our way, but late Saturday night on February 21, the snow started falling here in Dover, and continued through Sunday, February 22. I’m not sure of the exact amount we received, but some places are digging out of two (and even three) feet of snow.

And since it was the wet, fluffy kind that clings to the trees, I have a lot of broken, and fallen tree limbs, along with a crushed metal fence outback.

In addition, on top of all the snow—my computer’s hard drive crashed! I’m still waiting to see if I’ll be able to retrieve all my files.

And then . . . Just last week, I got into my car to drive to an appointment, and the car wouldn’t start!

But . . . isn’t that the way life is? It can’t be all sunshine and flowers! And we have to take the good with the bad. There’s an old adage (author unknown), which says: Into each life some rain must fall . . . All we have to do is watch the news, read the newspaper, or talk to others, to see that this is true.

Nevertheless, I’m sure I’m not alone in having a lot of “rain” fall into my life already—in the early months of this new year. I’m just hoping the rest of 2026 will have a little more sunshine. For all of us!

Grace and peace to you,

Mary Emma
